The logistics market in India is expected to grow to USD 307 billion by the year 2020, according to The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM). With the impetus provided by government initiatives and e-commerce penetration, the sector is projected to grow at CAGR of 16 percent on an average in the coming years, creating new opportunities for the logistics sector in the country.
Increasing customer demand from the tier two and three cities, growing popularity of e-commerce and online platforms, investments from the private sector are the key growth drivers of the logistics sector in India. The allocation of funds in infrastructure is likely to propel the transport, warehousing and logistics businesses rapidly over the long term. An allocation of INR 64,900 crore to expedite the creation and expansion of highways, in addition to an investment of INR 27,000 crore on rural roads is aimed at improving transport and seamless connectivity.
